But seeing a turtle bury its eggs is a first for me.
She was on the edge of the cycle path, trying to send earth to the bottom of a small cavity.
No explanation came to mind at the time. Perhaps she was trying to dig the earth in order to have a small, damp and comfortable bed, thus escaping the heat of this day which was close to 30 degrees Celsius.
I saw her again a little later, under the supervision of SÉPAQ employees who had a security perimeter around her nest to prevent predators from devouring the eggs.
